The SS Groote Beer makes port in Rotterdam 1966

This was my first experience of overseas travel. After SJSU University graduation 1966, I decided to go to Europe and Russia on a special Educational Program that included a two week class in Sweden and followed by an amazing trip to Russia. A friend was to meet me in Holland and this was a good place to start. I hitch-hiked to New York and caught the ship SS Groote Beer to Rotterdam. This was a great adventure, I met many nice people and I visited other parts of Europe as well. However, this trip came to and end after the program when my folks sent me word that I had received a letter from my Draft Board in San Diego requesting I return to the USA... Another story.
